Letter from the Editor
\nThis is just a note about some editing decisions I\u2019ve made for this show and the reasons behind them.
\n1. Western name order \u2013 All the names in the Japanese audio are in western order except for the Kusanagis\u2019. Adding to that, the show is set in Italy. Western order wins.
\n1.4 Honorifics \u2013 Honorifics are dropped or western ones, like \u201cLady,\u201d are substituted. I didn\u2019t even do this, the translator did \uff08 \uff40\u30fc\u00b4\uff09
\n2. Untranslated Italian \u2013 These parts are not meant to be understood. Most of the original audience wouldn\u2019t understand these lines, so it\u2019d be cheating if I translated these for fansub viewers. Plus, it\u2019s incorrect Italian.
\n3. Baka-Tsuki terminology \u2013 Baka-Tsuki can do their own thing. While their conservative translations of the books\u2019 terminology is technically correct, some of it doesn\u2019t have the right feel to it.
\n3a. Raptor: This is technically correct for \u201cootori,\u201d but it\u2019s 2012 now, not 1990. Language changes, and \u201craptor\u201d has taken on a new meaning, eclipsing the original. We went with the lackluster \u201cbird of prey\u201d as an alternative.
\n3b. Authority: I changed this to \u201cDivine Right,\u201d because it gets the point across better without sounding out-of-place.
\n3c. Devil King: \u201cDemon Lord\u201d just sounds better, okay?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
