FAQ

Will FFF be interested in picking up X or Y?
FFF picks up shows completely based on staff interest. We make our plans public whenever we are able to.

When will you release the episode of anime I’m waiting for? You’ve already released another show!
There’ve been no updates for five minutes, did you drop it?

FFF is a fansub group comprised of multiple teams of staff who enjoy different genres of anime. We do not believe in compromising release standards and switching through multiple editors to release an episode earlier. We also do not believe in releasing to a schedule, so we release whenever episodes are ready. We do not tend to drop shows without good reasons, and when we do, we will make an announcement on this blog. For those who don’t keep track of our blog posts, the statuses of shows are reflected on our AniDB page.

What timezone are the timestamps on the site in?
UTC+8, Singapore time.

What’s the point of batches? What are the patches for?
Batch releases are considered complete and final. Batches often come with script corrections and updates to the individual episodes and/or volumes previously released for archival purposes. Patches are provided to allow people who already have these previous versions to update their copies without having to redownload the whole batch. You do not need to patch anything if you download the files from the batch torrent or from the DDL after the batch release.

The link to the patch is dead. Can you reupload it?
If you’re only grabbing the patches after the links are dead, chances are you don’t need them. Our batch torrents always come pre-patched.

Will you reseed a torrent for me?
All latest batch torrents are always seeded. Just because you only get three peers doesn’t mean it’s not seeded. TV series which are replaced by Blurays will no longer be seeded. Grab the Bluray instead.

Will you release a batch for X? When will you release the batch for X?
Everything we do will be batched unless it has been dropped, so don’t ask if there will be a batch. That said, batches are the lowest among our priorities at FFF and we only have a couple of people who actually work on them. When they’ll be released is mostly unpredictable, but they will happen eventually. Furthermore, don’t ask us for batches for projects we haven’t finished, or even started. Everything we do is released progressively as it is done.

Why don’t you have a status page for your projects?
We have had status pages multiple times in the past. It does not make a difference and people will still ask because reading is too difficult for the more vocal of our downloaders. Their actions have caused us to remove status pages each time we’ve experimented with them.

Where do I acquire subtitle files of an anime you’ve released?
You can extract them directly from the release, together with the fonts which you’ll need. If for whatever reason you really don’t want to download our whole release, you can try your luck on animetosho.org, who host DDLs for subtitle files and fonts attached to each submission, and have most of our releases. We do not respond to requests asking for them, nor do we manage content on that site, so please do not ask.

What are your plans for HEVC?
We don’t intend to offer HEVC until software decoding and encoding support is more mature.

Can I use FFF’s scripts / get access to FFF’s resources for use in a foreign release?
We welcome foreign language groups to make use of our scripts. However, do know that we’re not going to help with your modification or share any of our resources. Our responsibility lies only with our release, and not with yours.

Can I use your subtitles for my Bluray release?
We do not want you using our subtitles for Bluray releases if we’re already doing our own Bluray releases. If we’re not already doing our own Bluray release, you’re welcome to do so, but refrain from asking us for help. Our responsibility lies only with our release, and not with yours.

How do I achieve proper playback?
We recommend CCCP for playback on Windows.
If you’re using OSX or Linux, we recommend using MPV.
We will not offer playback help if you’re not using any of the above setups.

How do I help FFF out?
The best way of helping us out is to simply share our releases.
Introduce FFF to your friends and seed our releases if you can.
You can also make a small monthly contribution through Flattr, it helps us out with buying Blurays and paying for servers.

I would like to advertise on FFF’s site. Who do I contact?
We’re not interested in having advertisements on our website.

The download links on your older posts are broken. Can you fix them?
At one point we had been hosting our .torrent files on our own DDL server, which we no longer run, and for most of our history on NyaaTorrents, which is now gone. Updating the old release posts when we move between servers or a torrent host goes down is an absurd amount of work and we don’t plan to do it. The primary purpose of release posts is to notify people of new releases. If you are looking for older releases, check the releases page to see where to find them. Posts since February 2016 also have magnet links, which are worth a try.

You’re very behind on anime X. Is TV dropped for it?
You’re overcomplicating it. When the subs for a show are done, we’ll release it on whatever is the best video source available to us at the time. We’ll never release anything on TV/web raws when we have BDs raws. The show is not dropped unless we’ve said so.
