FFF Summer 2017 Plans

July 3, 2017 at 8:10 pm

I suppose it’s news post time again.

After excusing myself from making a proper plans post last season due to lack of confirmed plans, I’m going to make one this season even though we have even fewer plans. Why? Because I can. I’ll also formalize our new pickups from the previous season (which we will finish eventually) just because.

How to Download Releases and About Links on Release Posts

June 20, 2017 at 7:34 pm

I did already make this post a month and a half ago, but I’m making it again, because people still don’t know how to read. This will be stickied for quite some time.

Do not use old posts to download old releases. They are unmaintainable! With NyaaTorrents gone, all download links on posts predating May 2017 are dead. Do not ask us to fix them. There are too many.

Status Update Regarding FFF and NyaaTorrents

May 5, 2017 at 7:37 pm

In case you’ve been living under a rock this week, NyaaTorrents has permanently shut down. It’s sad news for us all but it’s not the end of the world. A lot of people have since been lost on what to do now, and how to download releases, so I thought I’d make a short post to highlight some things to do, and some things not to do.

First, let me reiterate something which I’ve pointed out countless times in the past to people, and which some people still can’t understand even though I’ve put it on the FAQ, because it’s more important now than ever:

Do not use ancient blog posts to download old releases. They are unmaintainable and many links are dead. Now that NT is gone, all download links to date are dead except for magnets.

The FFF blog is for providing news and updates, information about releases, and download links to recent releases. Do not treat it as a download link archive. The releases page linked at the top of the site should be used to find old releases. That page has still not been remade, and I don’t know if it ever will be, but it will always at least be kept updated to tell you what we recommend you use as a download link archive instead. (Right now, Anime Tosho or Tokyo Toshokan.)

Finally, all release posts since February 2016 have magnet links. Future posts may only have magnet links. Most, if not all, of the magnet links on the site so far will require DHT enabled in your BitTorrent client to work. Magnet links on future posts will not.

That’s all for now. I’ll probably provide more updates including some clearer plans on what we’ll do going forward when stuff is ready to release.

Recruiting Timers

April 15, 2017 at 11:49 pm

I’m sure it’ll come as no surprise that a large number of FFF staff members have become more inactive or retired from fansubbing over the past year and a half or so, but we’ve become much more lacking in the timing department than any other. At this time, we have one active timer aside from myself. Although it’s been the area of the group that’s diminished the most, it’s affected us the least. This is only because I’ve been willing to personally time every show that none of our timers have wanted to so the rest of the group can pick up the shows they want. This season too, I’m timing both of our shows by default in time I’d rather spend working on the backlog of movies, OVAs, and BDs. Considering the number of other roles I have on our Spring shows and the fact that I won’t have as much free time soon, I thought it was time this changed.

Thus I decided to start an active recruitment drive. In particular, anyone interested in timing Sakura Quest or Saekano is strongly encouraged to apply. Please mention this in the final question on the form if you are.

I’d prefer applicants with prior timing experience in other groups. I won’t require it, but I don’t have time to teach people completely from scratch, and you will be tested upon applying. If you want to try teaching yourself to time, you’ll find unanimated’s timing guides useful. (The second guide is what you really need to know, but it has some assumed knowledge from the first.)

To apply, follow this link and complete the form.

Edit: We’ve managed to recruit a few people so I’m going to say we’re no longer actively recruiting timers. Of course, recruitment is still open to experienced subbers (it was never closed, in fact), and the link can be found in the FAQ as always. Thanks to everyone who applied.

Not a Plans Post

April 4, 2017 at 11:22 am

People seem to want an FFF plans post for the Spring season. This is not the plans post. This is a post to announce that there won’t be a plans post, because we have too few confirmed plans for there to be any point.

We’ll be doing the BDs for all our own shows from last season as usual, and at this point, no others. There are two other shows I’m considering, but don’t consider them picked up until you see me release them.

As for new shows, we’ll be subbing Sakura Quest.

I’m sure many want to know whether we’ll be subbing season 2 of Saekano since we did the first season. I don’t have an answer for that yet, but we might. If we release an episode, consider it picked up as well.

FFF Winter 2017 Plans

December 24, 2016 at 10:16 pm

Gonna make this quick because I have to be up early.

First off, here in Australia it’s currently 1 AM on the 25th, so Merry Christmas everyone!

I was planning to have a special (or rather, highly anticipated) release ready for today, but unfortunately it wasn’t ready in time. Some of you probably know what it is. We did make a lot of progress on it however, and I’m fairly sure it will be out some time early or mid next week.

Next, I’m sure a lot of you are wondering about the lack of releases. As for Hibike, that is stalled at the editor who became very busy with work over the last 2 months. He’s been chipping away at it recently and he’s just basically finished episode 6. I don’t know when the rest will be done. I don’t see this particular editor working on anything much in the future once Hibike is finished, but I assure you it will be. I’ve seen a lot of people saying (not to me, because they’re all shitposters and slanderers) that the group is dead, and that as of what’s happened to Hibike, we’ve come to a halt and given up on TV releases. This is not true and the situation with the person editing Hibike will not affect our ability to work on other shows.

As for my BD projects, to elaborate on what I said in the DAL movie post, I put them off to focus on some of the things that have been stalled for a long time on account of being too much work, such as the DAL movie and the special release planned for next week. As I’ve already said, after that I’ll be wrapping up the Love Live movie, and then I’ll be resuming my BD projects (Saijaku, Sakurasou, DAL DC, Sunshine, New Game, etc.) This too, will not affect our ability to work on new TV projects.

Speaking of which…

Winter TV
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! S2
Gabriel DropOut

Fall BD
Hibike! Euphonium S2

Edit: Please read the post in full (and preferably the FAQ if you have not yet already) before asking any questions and do not ask questions that have already been asked on this post.

FFF Fall 2016 Plans

October 2, 2016 at 12:09 am

Hopefully I won’t rant for too long.

Many of you have probably noticed we haven’t released many BDs over the past couple of weeks. People have been away and/or busy, including myself, so we fell behind. When Eien announced our BD plan for the year back in January, he said we’d try to release a volume every weekday, for a total of 261 for the year. We’ve been keeping track of our progress, and we’re currently at 189 volumes. We’ll still try to reach our aim of 261 volumes, but regular releases have been thrown out the window, at least for now or until we catch up to our goal again. This isn’t all bad news, because I feel my priorities have been wrong in trying to maintain daily releases, as it robs me of time to spend on things that take longer than a day to sub—including things many of you have been eager for.

Anyway, here are our new pickups for this season. More may yet be added last minute. We’ve also been working on some OVAs for a couple of older shows, so you can look forward to those releases soon.

Fall TV
Hibike! Euphonium 2

Summer BD
Love Live! Sunshine!!
Shokugeki no Souma S2
New Game!

Edit: Too many people have asked me if we’re subbing the WIXOSS movie. I don’t think these people understand what most of our BD projects actually entail, so let me clarify. Our WIXOSS projects always have been and always will be simply bringing Asenshi’s TV subs for the series to BD encodes. Asenshi’s release of the movie (which has now been released) is already using a BD source, so there is no point in us doing our own release.

FFF Spring 2016 TV Plans & Winter 2016 Bluray Plans

April 2, 2016 at 11:43 pm

Okay, so I’m sure you were expecting some kind of writing from me here, but I’m in Japan on vacation at the moment for the Final Love Live, and I really can’t be assed. Especially given that I’m writing this on my phone.

FFF 6th Anniversary

March 25, 2016 at 12:00 am

Today, the 25th of March, marks FFF’s 6th anniversary and the beginning of our 7th year. To commemorate our 6th anniversary, we’ll be having a “six weeks of FFF” release where we’ll be releasing shows that begin or have something to do with F in the title. There’ll be Juuou Mujin no Fafnir, Kanojo ga FLAG wo Oraretara, Freezing Vibration, Futsuu no Joshikousei ga Locodol Yatte Mita and Everything Becomes F: The Perfect Insider. I’ll leave the cool writing to Naine when he does the Spring plan next month.

The Bluray donations are still ongoing and we’re short of $700 USD to get all of Ore Monogatari and Antimagic Academy. We’ve fully funded Sakurako and managed to secure ways to get Working!!!, Perfect Insider and WIXOSS. Please consider donating a dollar or so towards the Blurays to help us acquire raws for the shows so we can start working on them. We take both paypal and amazon giftcards. Please leave an email in the email field of the comments if you’d like to donate. We’ll contact you for details on how you can proceed.

Ore Monogatari 1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8

04/04/2016 GMT+8 0211 – $20 short for Ore Monogatari Vol.07

Antimagic Academy literally got uploaded twelve hours after I shipped the first two volumes. I’ve put the rest of the money towards Ore Monogatari!!.
