Status Update Regarding FFF and NyaaTorrents
In case you’ve been living under a rock this week, NyaaTorrents has permanently shut down. It’s sad news for us all but it’s not the end of the world. A lot of people have since been lost on what to do now, and how to download releases, so I thought I’d make a short post to highlight some things to do, and some things not to do.
First, let me reiterate something which I’ve pointed out countless times in the past to people, and which some people still can’t understand even though I’ve put it on the FAQ, because it’s more important now than ever:
Do not use ancient blog posts to download old releases. They are unmaintainable and many links are dead. Now that NT is gone, all download links to date are dead except for magnets.
The FFF blog is for providing news and updates, information about releases, and download links to recent releases. Do not treat it as a download link archive. The releases page linked at the top of the site should be used to find old releases. That page has still not been remade, and I don’t know if it ever will be, but it will always at least be kept updated to tell you what we recommend you use as a download link archive instead. (Right now, Anime Tosho or Tokyo Toshokan.)
Finally, all release posts since February 2016 have magnet links. Future posts may only have magnet links. Most, if not all, of the magnet links on the site so far will require DHT enabled in your BitTorrent client to work. Magnet links on future posts will not.
That’s all for now. I’ll probably provide more updates including some clearer plans on what we’ll do going forward when stuff is ready to release.

I was wondering this too. The homepage was hosted on http://www.nyaanyaa.com, which has been down since I first checked it after nyaa went down. The name of the site makes me wonder if perhaps nyaa.se and Hellokitty were run by the same person.

A fully functional replacement has already been made. Surprised more people aren’t talking about it, as it’s really the only good alternative. I mean Tokyo Toshokan? Seriously?

Nyaa is up to date all the way to May 1st 2017, so basically nothing is lost.
Sukebei unfortunately is only up to date to 2016. It’ll be tougher for uploaders to restore all your loli porn.
You’ll likely get a bad gateway error. It’s because the traffic is ridiculous right now. Over 6 million nip users are fucking around there, 600k from burgerland, and I forgot what it was for the Eurotrash. And it’s climbing. For only a few days up, the site is looking extremely promising.
Go the FAQ or w/e for info and IRC.
1. If you mean it’s a fully functional browser for NT’s archive, sure, but it’s certainly nowhere near a fully functional replacement for NT. It is not a tracker, it doesn’t have the same RSS capabilities as NT, it doesn’t host torrents, and submitting is still not working properly.
2. You’re surprised more people aren’t talking about it? Really? Too many people are talking about it.
3. There are plenty of usable alternatives. There are plenty of other sites like this too!
4. What exactly is wrong with TT? It’s a lot more functional than NyaaPantsu.

Naine, sorry if you’ve already been asked that somewhere else, but now that Nyaa has forsaken us, where will you release your episodes of Eromanga-sensei? DDY’s are fine, but I like yours better. Even though you said you’d provide more updates when things got ready to be released, since it’s a personal project of yours and I don’t know where else I could contact you, I thought it’d be ok to come here and ask. Thanks and even though we’re all sad over our loss, as long as this community doesn’t lose heart, I’m sure we’ll work things through. On that note, I hope Commie will make its comeback soon.
I don’t know what I’ll do in the long run yet but it’ll be the same as whatever we end up deciding for FFF. In the meantime, I’ll release without a torrent host, make sure the releases are available on TT at the very least, and continue to post links to Twitter and in the relevant IRC channel.

These people were the idiots that caused this Nyaa mess in the first place and bullied fansub groups they didn’t like over the years which is why Doki ended up creating Anidex.

It’s been half a day. What makes you think no one will upload to it? This looks like one of the more promising replacements and most fansubbers could be using it before long. HorribleSubs seems to have already committed to using it as a replacement.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up recruiting some or most of the old NT mods assuming it gains traction.
Yeah I saw that Daiz and HS were both endorsing it. Didn’t realise a lot of people were actually on board with this one. I figured it was just another shit pantsu nyaa.

Pantsu have all the database of dead nyaa, patsu sukebi have still undatated and have database of 2016 till they will get update database from someone (hopefully from here?)

How is that up to anyone running a torrent site? How can it be even? That’s the responsibility of people submitting to torrent sites.

Everyone did that. If they didn’t, we wouldn’t have a problem right now.
What problem? Neither I nor FFF has any problem (aside from the lack of a functioning RSS feed, which we’re working on), because we didn’t do that.
In fact, if you read my post again, you’ll see that its purpose is not to address any problem, but to point out to lost downloaders that there is no problem and to reiterate information that has always been true because reading the FAQ is too hard for people.
I suppose FFF doesn’t really have a problem, the problem is for the content in general, like older releases from defunct groups or eroge. Especially eroge.
Oh, and btw, I wasn’t implying putting all the eggs in one basket was up to the person running the torrent site, I meant that even though nyaa.se was run by someone “competent”, he pulled the plug without any warning and no easy way to rebuild.

It isn’t! Well, creating ONE and only one replacement is, but luckily there are multiple “replacements” and hopefully whatever site becomes “big” will be mirrored more reliably than nyaa.se was.
