FFF's 3rd Anniversary & Spring 2013 TV Plans
archdeco said Hidamari is fitting.
Eien:
We’re 3 years old today.
I’m a terrible writer, so I’ll leave the story telling part to convexity, who’s pretty much the co-leader.
It hasn’t been a smooth ride the entire way, and we’ve had our ups and downs.
I want to thank all of the staff.
I really appreciate your work and friendship.
I enjoy our fun times in the staff channel more than the actual fansubbing, even!
convexity:
This is certainly a good time to look back on what has happened in the past year.
Since the Spring 2011 incident, the group had not been very active, barely managing a couple of shows a season. There was little interest among the remaining staff in finishing up some of the shows from that period (in fact, we still haven’t finished Softenni). By the beginning of 2012, not much work was getting done, with almost half the people in the staff channel just idling. The joint with GotWoot/Underwater on Symphogear didn’t go too well because of staff issues and the supposedly Nordic spells that were challenging to figure out. Many inaccuracies were pointed out in our Aquarion EVOL releases. And we found out that we had a murderer in the group. Clearly, some changes were in order.
Eien took the initiative just before the beginning of the Spring 2012 season, removing inactive members and recruiting new ones. The group tag was changed from [FFFpeeps] to just [FFF] starting with Medaka Box. Some significant changes were also made with respect to how we actually subbed things. For one, we began using simulcast translations as a base, since more and more shows got licensed. Sengoku Collection and Medaka Box were the first shows we used CR translations for. One motivation for this was that Medaka Box was apparently not easy to translate and the attempt to joint with Whine-Subs for it didn’t work out so well (the other two groups ended up dropping it too, so it must have been pretty terrible to work on). We also switched to 10-bit encodes and began using pads to streamline the process rather than uploading raw translations and such.
As such, a lot of changes were made to the group about a year ago. Practically no new translator or timer joined during 2012, but we got by. After joining early 2012, Ioryogi has done a lot of editing for the group. archdeco eventually inherited the role of the Master Timer from jadpraet, timing everything for the group. ClamXtX and Calyrica QC’ed almost all the TV and Bluray releases, respectively. The core team hasn’t changed much since.
Since then, nothing eventful really happened except for the recent recruitment where we recruited five members within a month, a rather sizable addition to the staff team which hasn’t happened since the founding of the group.
We welcome Lillia, lunr, haguruma, AndyRayy and Shinitai to the FFFamily!
Spring Plans:
So, I’d also like to take this opportunity to announce our Spring plans, which may be subjected to change depending on what CR announces.
Red Data Girl [Both NicoNico and TV airing]
Date a Live [Both NicoNico and TV airing]
Hataraku Maou-sama!
Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Brides
Haiyore Nyaruko S2
We have a few more shows we’re looking at, but we haven’t really confirmed lineups for them, so we’ll announce them later.
