FFF Fall 2014 TV Plans & Summer 2014 Bluray Plans
What you’re going to read won’t be anything surprising. The post should have been made a month ago, but has been delayed for various reasons.
Updated 12/11/2014 with clarifications for donations, because some people think we’re pocketing money and profiting immensely off FFF.
As you can tell, we’re all quite busy with other matters this season and won’t be picking up many shows. There’s also our bluray backlog, which we’re planning on clearing, nothing is dropped, stop asking. Asking won’t really help you get it faster, we release whenever we’re done. That’s all there is to say about anime for the season.
Fall TV Plans
Akatsuki no Yona
Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de
Magic Kaito
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
Summer Bluray Plans
Jinsei – FFF
Rokujouma no Shinryakusha! – FFF
Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance – FFF
Anime aside, there’re several more important things to discuss in the post. The most important of which, is on the topic of donations. We’ve been receiving less than half the required amount for about two months and the extra money we’ve had has been fully used up last month. Half of November’s payments have already had to be paid for with my own cash. If you’re an FFFddl user, please consider making a donation of $1 a week, or an amount you’re comfortable with so that we can keep the service up. The service uses up a lot of bandwidth, as we’ve mentioned many times in the past, and that amount only increases over time, along with the cost required to pay for the bandwidth. Extra donation money lets us buy Blurays from Japan. I intend to purchase Strike the Blood and Golden Time Blurays if we have the money, because raws are just not showing up online.
Another matter to discuss is one regarding the site. Over Summer, we’ve switched our webhost and migrated our blog and had a new skin applied to it, courtesy of Balance`. It’s still lacking some important fixes like an updated releases page, but the design is pretty much final. That being said, due to the change in design, we require banners of different dimensions to go along with the new blog. The requirements are as follows:
- 1060 x 326 pixels
- Must have FFF or FFFansubs somewhere
- Preferably a female from a show we’ve done
- No rounded corners
We don’t have prizes to give away, unfortunately, but you’ll have our love! To submit a banner, leave a link in the comments on this post.
Lastly, I’d like to talk about the amount of emails I’ve been receiving as of late. It’s very apparent to me, that the majority of the people who email me did not read the FAQ. Most of the questions I get can easily be answered if you had bothered reading the FAQ instead of shooting the questions at me directly. I will not be responding to the questions after today.
Q: Will you sub Detective Conan?
A: No.
Q: Is [every show that we didn’t release ten seconds after airing] dropped?
A: No.
Q: Can you send me scripts of [some show]?
A: No.
Q: I need access to releases earlier for my podcast/anime club/foreign group, can you send them to me?
A: No.
Q: Can you fire your staff doing [every show that we didn’t release ten seconds after airing]?
A: No.
TL’s Note: [every show that we didn’t release ten seconds after airing] means Jinsei, Mahouka, SAO, STB, DAL, DxD or Hoozuki in most cases.
Also, I’ll have to clarify about what we do with our donations. We get about $100-250 a month usually, this number fluctuates a lot because donations are donations, they’re not obligatory. For the past three months, we’ve gotten about $80 a month. Our servers (FFFddl.org, [FFF]Yaya, our “fansub” ftp and FFFansubs.org) cost $240 a month to maintain if we don’t go over our bandwidth limits, which can easily happen when we release Blurays like crazy for a month, which we’re known to do during our term breaks. There’s nothing profitable about running FFF or a fansub group at all, contrary to popular belief. I frequently pay out of my pocket for servers and I’m not going to pay hundreds of dollars out of my pocket for Blurays to make a few people stop complaining for three days. For the record, I’ve paid $280 the past three months combined for the servers to keep FFFddl running.
We only buy Blurays when we have enough money to cover the next month’s payments, and buy a few volumes at once, which almost never happens except for very rare occasions where generous people, like girlcelly, donate a large sum at once.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them.
