How to Download Releases and About Links on Release Posts
I did already make this post a month and a half ago, but I’m making it again, because people still don’t know how to read. This will be stickied for quite some time.
Do not use old posts to download old releases. They are unmaintainable! With NyaaTorrents gone, all download links on posts predating May 2017 are dead. Do not ask us to fix them. There are too many.
If you are looking to download our releases, go to any of nyaa.si, Tokyo Toshokan, or Anime Tosho and search for our releases there. Make sure you’re using a torrent client that supports DHT. For future reference, the releases page linked at the top of the site will always contain up-to-date instructions on how to download our releases. For the time being, and probably in the long-term future if it proves sustainable, we will be posting our new releases to nyaa.si.
Do not comment on this post with any other questions unless you have already read our FAQ. It is called the FAQ for a reason. Do not skip reading the FAQ because you think your question is too specific; it very well may still be answered there. If you post a question and it is obvious you haven’t read the FAQ, it will be deleted. Unconstructive shitposting will also be deleted.

I never had any problems downloading from old release posts. To be honest, that was before Apocalypse Nyaa. I kind off assumed people would figure out those are dead by themselves. Shows what I know.

What about pantsu or anidex?
Pantsu is a joke and anidex I don’t care for. Anyone including the maintainers of those sites is free to mirror our releases there but we’d prefer to only have to upload our torrents once. Anidex wasn’t built with any kind of scale in mind, apparently has a history of security issues, and I simply know and trust the people involved with nyaa.si more.
My guess is these people’s thought processes are “tl;dr” or “I need visual aids”. Or they just want to mess around. It could be any reason. I’m sorry to hear groups have to deal with this all the time.

Hey FFF, how do you downsample videos? I’ve been trying to scale a 1080p release to 720p, but it never seems to work. Handbrake seems to get rid of the embedded fonts, and using ffmpeg from the command line almost worked but again some of the fonts were missing (specifically, I was converting the 1080p Hibike S1 release, and the fancy treble clef on the OP lyrics was just the letter J after conversion. Q.Q). Any suggestions? The 720p torrents are dead, or I’d save myself some time and CPU cycles…
Don’t use handbrake. You’ll need to mux it properly with mkvmerge.
Which 720p torrents? Nothing should be dead.
Hibike Euphonium’s first season BDs don’t have any seeders on the 720p torrents, only 1080p.
So I should downscale the videos with ffmpeg or something, and then manually rip the fonts and subs from the originals and embed them in the new videos? Bleh. I was kinda hoping there’s a more automated process, but I guess that’s why encoding is a specific position…
Why not download it from IRC?
That’s better than attempting to encode with handbrake but encoding with ffmpeg is not the best idea either. You’ll also have issues with the subs if you try doing this. You should just use our 720p release. We can get them reseeded.
Edit: They should be seeding again now. Be sure to grab the torrents from nyaa.si so you’re using trackers that aren’t dead.
Are you trying to keep it MKV? I’d recommend using MeGui.

If you’re trying to download from the link in old posts, then you should arrived at that “This site can’t be reached” page. Now go to your address bar (URL) and substitute everything in URL up before the numbers with “nyaa.si/view/” and press enter. It should brings up Nyaa.si website with the old torrent numbers from Nyaa.se with the old torrent contents.
It worked for me so far.
